March 2024 Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

The SORBA Woodstock Board of Directors met on March 4th, 2024, covering a wide range of topics to enhance our trails and support our biking community. Here’s a snapshot of the key discussions and decisions from the meeting.

1. Financial Update

  • Treasury Report: Received $2,973 in donations. Tax preparation status remains TBD.

2. Membership

  • Online Membership Database: Membership count is now at 395.

3. Blankets Creek Projects

  • Updates on several ongoing projects, including VMT Rework, Dwelling Erosion Repair, and the addition of trail features like "trail candy" near Gingershred Gap.

  • New initiatives such as carpeting parking lot jumps and surrounding them with a split rail fence, funded by unanimous board approval with a project budget of $1,500 - $2,000.

4. Rope Mill Projects

  • Focus on repairs and enhancements, including the New Explorer Connector entrance, widening trails, updating signage, and bridge repairs.

  • Discussion on new projects like the Avalanche Rootball fill in/ride around.

5. Bike Patrol Updates

  • AED and CCFD Training updates.

6. Miscellaneous

  • Ongoing partnerships and projects with Yamaha, Boy Scouts, and the GCA Liaison position now officially filled by Jeff Stewart.

  • Sponsorship strategies for 2024, including website display of sponsors.

  • Assistance to Jamye Snyder with trail assessment at Dupree Park, emphasizing education over direct maintenance responsibility.

  • Exploration of potential tools for enhancing donation processes, like Every.org.

Meeting Miscellaneous

  • Practical matters such as parking lot painting, a Lydar map for Rope Mill, and installing lights for parking lot jumps were discussed.

  • The board decided to remove the Home Depot permit box at the new jump area.

7. 2024 Tentative Calendar

  • A full lineup of events, including the Benefit Run for Brandon English, Dirty 30 Blankets Creek, and Pedalpalooza, highlights a busy and engaging year ahead for the SORBA Woodstock community.
